My Talented Sister !!!

I know this blog is supposed to be about pottery....however I just have to post this picture of the fireplace my sister Ev , her friend Jackie and my sister-in-law Stefanie just finished. Wow talk about a piece of art!!! Amazing women that build beautiful river rock fireplaces for Ram Creek Log Homes. Awesome!!!

The Studio has been humming!!!

Back to back glaze firings....The studio has been really busy this last week. Ev will be leaving soon (The Baja Frog) so she has been trying to get all her gifts ready to go south! I have been getting some pieces done for out Christmas sale. Karen was out on the Monday and made some really cool pieces.I will keep you posted on those. Thanks for stopping by. Caroline

Wildlife pottery

I grew up in Saskatchewan, yet when I was young the wind caught hold of me and over time I found myself "moved to live near" each of the three oceans surrounding Canada. Saskatchewan will always be a part of me, because that is where my childhood began. As a child, I played with clay, dug deep from the garden. Now, from time-to-time I use various other mediums, but I always return to playing with clay.I love imaging about the pieces in my mind. Building the pieces seems to be far less challenging for me, than glazing them! Yet, when a piece goes through the creating, building and glazing process and comes out meeting my expectations, then I feel I have won.

Having grown up and worked in the Kootenays all my life, I found myself semi-retired last year and needing something fun and interesting to do. I have always wanted to try pottery, so our good friend Karen took on the challenge to teach my sister and myself. My husband, Richard, was kind enough to give up his workshop to build us a studio and he continually makes improvements for us. We have been having the best time ever since. Caroline and Karen hold down the fort while the Baja frog enjoys the winter in Mexico and Arizona, but she returns to work in the spring. Looking forward to new creations. Have a great day!
